For the first time in 6 months – since the surgery she underwent last January and the announcement in March that she had been diagnosed with cancer – Kate Middleton will appear in public today at Trooping the Colour, the annual grand military ceremony for the official birthday of the monarch.

The appearance of the two cancer-stricken members of the royal family – Kate Middleton and King Charles – on the balcony of Buckingham is expected at approximately 1 London time (3:00 PM Greek time) but already a crowd of people has camped since the morning at The Mall, outside the palace.

Kate Middleton arrived by car at Buckingham Palace just after 10am to watch the ceremony with the rest of the family from the office where the royal family usually gathers, overlooking the parade ground.

She notes that her treatment is ongoing and will continue for a few more months, but says she is looking forward to attending the King’s birthday parade with her family.

However, the plan can change at the last minute, depending on how Princess Kate feels.

In her message, she writes that she hopes to participate in some public engagements this summer, “knowing that I’m not out of the loop yet.”

King Charles’ second Trooping the Colour

King Charles turned 75 on November 14 and this will be the second Trooping the color to take place since the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth, and his accession to the throne.

Trooping the Color is an annual military parade held in London to celebrate the official birthday of the British monarch. It is a traditional ceremony that dates back to the 17th century and involves the parade and inspection of troops by the monarch.

The ceremony includes military bands, horses and approximately 1,400 soldiers who participate in the parade. The highlight of the event is the appearance of the royal family on the Buckingham balcony.
