1215: The first embryonic form of a declaration of human rights. John Actimon signs the Magna Carta.

1667: Louis XIV’s physician, Jean-Baptiste Denis, performs the first transfusion of sheep’s blood on a 15-year-old boy. The boy will die and the doctor will be charged with murder. It is, however, considered the first recorded blood transfusion.

1856: With the SPTH legislative decree, it is decided to issue a stamp for the postal needs of Greece.

1878: British troops land in Cyprus and occupy the island, after the agreement with the Ottomans who had occupied it since 1530.

1885: The Ereton Club, the oldest sports club in Greece, is founded in Piraeus.

1954: UEFA is founded in Basel, Switzerland, on the initiative of the football federations of Italy, France and Belgium.
