The firefighting forces are fighting the flames in western Turkey, as with the contribution of high temperatures and stormy winds, many fire outbreaks have occurred.

Most of the fires occurred in the wider area of Smyrna, specifically in Ephesus, Menemeni, Krini (Cesme), Torbali and Menderes. According to the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, 16 fires broke out today in the province of Izmir alone – 8 in forest and 8 in grassland – which were tackled by 11 firefighting aircraft, 27 helicopters, 171 water tankers and digging machines and 972 personnel. By evening, 11 of the 16 fires were brought under control. Due to the danger of the fires spreading, several houses and two hotels were evacuated in Kusadasi, as the flames approached an area with tourist facilities.

Fires also broke out in other prefectures of western Turkey.

In the province of Balikesir, the battle on the fire fronts was fought in the areas of Susurluk and Ayvali, where the fire started from the waste disposal site and spread to the neighboring olive groves.

The fire in Bursa, in the Keles region, was also brought under control, while a fire destroyed agricultural lands in the Ezine province of the Dardanelles.

The fire was also brought under control in Edirne, near the border with Bulgaria, which initially broke out in a rural area and spread to the neighboring forest.

Battle on the fiery fronts was also fought in the Karaman prefecture, in the region of Germanikopolis (Ermenek), southern Turkey, as well as in Kahramanmaras in the southeast and Bingel in the east of the country.
