Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu estimated that the main stage of the military operation against the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip will soon be completed.
“We are nearing the completion of the operation to eliminate the terrorist army of Hamas,” Netanyahu said, welcoming graduates of the National Defense College in Jerusalem. “We will continue to fight the remaining (including Hamas gunmen),” he assured.

The Israeli armed forces are pounding the Gaza Strip after the unprecedented attack launched by Hamas on October 7. Since then, due to Israeli attacks, at least 37,765 Palestinians have been killed and 86,429 injured in the Gaza Strip, according to the Hamas Health Ministry.
The Israeli military operation in Rafah, near the border with Egypt, aims to dismantle the remaining units of the military wing of Hamas, Benjamin Netanyahu said.
Netanyahu’s remarks suggest that the Israeli military’s large-scale ground operations in the Gaza Strip are coming to an end. However, as he has announced, Israeli forces will remain at strategic points in the blockaded Palestinian enclave.
