Satellite images of Maxar, taken at 10:56 a.m. Sunday, show a large phalanx of Russian ground forces, including hundreds of military vehicles, heading northeast of the Ukrainian city of Ivankiv and heading toward Kiev, which is located approximately 65 kilometers away.
The phalanx stretched for more than 5 kilometers, and contained fuel, logistics and armored vehicles, such as tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, self-propelled artillery.
The statements were refuted
The mayor of Kiev denied the statements about a besieged city. He spoke about the misinformation of Russian media that was also spread by Ukrainian:
A cry of despair earlier from Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kiev, who described the Ukrainian capital as “surrounded”, and said that the evacuation of citizens is not possible “because all roads are blocked.”
“We are on the verge of a humanitarian catastrophe,” he said in the Associated Press on Sunday, while the traffic ban continues in the city, which, as he said, attacks the authorities to hunt “saboteurs” in the streets.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said on Sunday that Russian soldiers had been killed and wounded during the attack in Ukraine, but added that the Russian casualties were much smaller than those suffered by Ukraine, without giving figures, the Interfax news agency reported.
Since the beginning of what Russia calls its “special military operation” in Ukraine, the armed forces have hit 1,067 Ukrainian military locations, the Russian Defense Ministry said, according to Interfax.
