Donald Trump falsely claimed to have “thrown out” President Joe Biden from the presidential race while disparaging Vice President Kamala Harris in a video released by the Daily Beast that has gone viral around the world, causing the sharp reaction of the staff of his Democratic opponent.

The Republican former president was filmed on a golf course sitting in a buggy boasting about his televised performance against Biden last week. Biden’s disastrous performance in that debate led some Democrats to call for him to withdraw his candidacy.

“He’s leaving the race (…) I threw him out,” Trump can be heard saying in the footage, which was posted late Wednesday night. He then attacks Harris, who, according to some sources, would run for president if Biden were to retire. “She’s so bad, she’s so pathetic, she’s desperately bad,” he said.

Biden, 81, assured Wednesday that he will not withdraw from the race. His campaign staff responded to the 78-year-old Trump. “No, Donald. Evil is taking away women’s rights. The downside is losing the election and encouraging a violent mob to attack the Capitol. It’s bad to attack women. The bad thing is not paying your taxes,” said representative Sarafina Tsitika.

For its part, Trump’s staff stood by his words. “Nothing in this video is wrong,” responded Chris LaCivita in a post on Platform X.
