Last month, US President Donald Trump pardoned their multi-billionaire cryptocurrencies, Changpeng Zhao (known as “CZ”) who was convicted of money laundering in 2023.
Yesterday, Sunday, during an interview on CBS News’ 60 Minutes, Trump was asked about pardoning Zhao, even though government prosecutors had said he caused “significant harm to US national security.”
Then the US president revealed that he doesn’t even know who the man he got out of prison is.
“Okay, are you ready? I don’t know who he is, I have no ideaTrump said, adding that he did not recall ever meeting Zhao.
He only remembers that he had been told the businessman was the victim of a ‘witch hunt’ by the administration of former US President Joe Biden.
“I don’t know who he is,” says President Trump, claiming he doesn’t know Changpeng Zhao (aka CZ) a man he pardoned.

Zhao pleaded guilty to a charge of facilitating money laundering in 2023. He served four months in prison and agreed to step down as CEO of Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, which he co-founded.
According to the BBC, his companies have partnered with companies linked to Trump on new digital currency projects, including Dominari Holdings, where his sons sit on the board and which is based in Trump Tower.
In fact, during the interview, Trump discussed his support for cryptocurrencies and said the US needed to make sure it was a leader in the industry or risk China and its rivals gaining an advantage in emerging technology.

OR grace The president’s order lifts restrictions that prevented Zhao from running financial businesses, but it’s unclear whether it changes his position with U.S. regulators, or his role at Binance.
At the pardon, White House press secretary Caroline Levitt called the Biden administration’s prosecution of Zhao part of a “war on cryptocurrencies,” hitting back at critics who said the pardon appeared to be motivated by Trump’s personal financial interests.
