Member of the House of Commons becomes Nigel Farage, who won the Clacton constituency in Essex by 8,405 votes.

It was the eighth attempt by the leader of the far-right Reform UK party and former leader of the Eurosceptic UKIP and Brexit Party.

In his victory speech the 60-year-old politician described his victory and Reform UK’s very good performance as “the first step in something that will surprise you all”, adding that his party would fill the “vacuum” in the centre-right.

He said he would now target Labor votes. “We are coming for the Workers” he warned.

In north London, in the district of North Islington, the winner was again Jeremy Corbyndistrict representative since 1983.

The left-wing politician led the Labor Party in the two previous general elections, in 2017 and 2019.

However, he stood down as an independent after falling out with his successor Keir Starmer over allegations of anti-Semitism in the Corbyn-led party.
