“They’re watching and waiting for President Biden to come to a decision on his own,” one Democrat told CNN, speaking on condition of anonymity to avoid being seen as disrespectful to Biden.

Biden’s campaign declined to comment, while Pelosi’s entourage denied there had been a discussion with Obama.

Obama, according to people close to him, is fielding many calls from concerned Democratic donors and officials, but he is listening more than talking, carefully avoiding taking a position that could quickly leak.
