At the time he shot Donald Trump from a rooftop in Pennsylvania, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, the man identified by authorities as the gunman, was wearing a T-shirt that read “Demolition Ranch.” Seconds after the attack, he was killed by police.
Demolition Ranch is one of the most popular gun channels on YouTube and currently has over 11 million subscribers.
The channel has almost 700 videos in its library, and the most common topics are firearms, aiming challenges, weapon comparisons, handling techniques and conducting experiments.
The website also sells products such as t-shirts and caps, for an average price of between US$29 and US$35 (equivalent to R$157 to R$190 at the current exchange rate).
After learning that the shooter was wearing one of his shirts, Matt Carriker, the founder of Demolition Ranch, posted an image of the dead man and wrote in the caption: “What the hell.”
The channel was founded in 2011 and was aimed at enthusiasts. It grew quickly and now has billions of views.
According to NewsWeek, Carriker also owns a shooting range in Texas that aims to promote marksmanship and skills. He earns up to $15,000 (more than R$80,000) just from the return of his videos on YouTube.
