Fierce storms they caused Saturday night to Sunday floods in its Ot-Marn law northeastern Francewhere five people were taken to hospitals with symptoms of hypothermia, according to information from the prefecture.

From 7 pm on Saturday, the area was faced with a severe storm, the relevant information stated, in which it is underlined that rescuers intervened in 80 cases. Six regional roads were blocked, around 60 households were left without electricity, while 34 residents had to be evacuated from the community of Sexfontein.

The French meteorological service (Météo-France) confirmed in a bulletin issued around 2 am (local time, 03:00 in Greece) that the rain in some areas of Haute-Marne was torrential, with more than 50 millimeters in one time.

“Damage is significant” in several municipalities due to mudslides caused by “terrible storms”, the county council said in a Facebook post, which was accompanied by a video of a flooded road.

Flooding was also reported in the neighboring Côte-d’Or department, with Météo-France issuing an orange alert for all of the country’s northeastern departments.

The authorities in the departments of Puy-de-Dôme and Candal, in the central part of France, have also been placed on alert for the occurrence of flooding phenomena.
