The World Memory Center of the Yad Vashem Holocaust of Israel expressed his “strong condemnation” for one Russian bombing today close to one monument in the Kyivat Babyn Yar, the site of the massacre of Jews in Ukraine during World War II by German occupation troops and Ukrainian auxiliary forces.
“We call on the international community to take coordinated action to ensure the lives of civilians as well as these historic sites because of their irreplaceable value for Holocaust research, education and remembrance,” the Center said in a statement.
Yad Vashem “strongly” condemns Russia’s attack near Babi Yar.
Russian forces bombed a television tower in Kyiv in the afternoon, disrupting the broadcasting of channels, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry said.
The TV tower is located in the same neighborhood as Babi Yar, a ravine where the Nazis killed more than 30,000 Jews in two days in 1941. The site is an important Holocaust memorial.
