At least 30 Palestinians killed by Israeli strike on school in Deir al-Ballah central GazaPalestinian health officials announced, while the Israeli military said it had hit a Hamas command center.

Gaza’s Ministry of Health and its government’s press office Hamas gave the death toll from the attack on the school in Deir al-Ballah, one of the most populated areas with displaced families, adding that the number of injured was 100.

THE Israeli army in a statement it said it targeted “a Hamas command and control center inside the Qadija school premises in central Gaza”.

According to the statement, the school was used to carry out attacks against soldiers and as a weapons cache, and the Israeli military had warned civilians before the strike.

The injured were transported by ambulance at Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Ballahwhile some went there on foot with bloodstained clothes.

In previous similar strikes targeting civilian infrastructure, the Israeli military has accused Hamas of endangering civilians and operating in densely populated neighborhoods using schools and hospitals as cover, which the Islamist militant group denies.
