Even Syrians and Afghans are on the list, according to Interior Secretary Nancy Feser
Violent deportations Islamistseven Syrians and Afghans, possibly through neighboring states, the federal government, which is conducting confidential negotiations with “various” countries, promised again.
“German interests are clearly my first priority. We especially want to consistently deport violent Islamists who commit crimes. We are negotiating in confidence with various states to re-open potential deportations to Afghanistan and Syria,” the federal home secretary said. Nancy Feather in the BILD newspaper and added that it is important that “the federal police can support the states responsible for these deportations as soon as possible so that anyone who does not have the right to stay in Germany leaves our country much faster.”
Syria and Afghanistan remain the most important countries of origin for asylum seekers in Germany. In the first half of the year alone, 40,000 Syrians and 20,000 Afghans have applied for asylum. In total, almost a million Syrians and at least 400,000 Afghans live in the country today, the vast majority of them refugees seeking asylum. Whether someone is entitled to protection in Germany depends on many factors, the most important of which is whether their life is threatened in their home country.
A few days ago Court of Munster ruled that conditions in Syria are no longer dangerous enough to warrant blanket protection status for those fleeing the country. The public confrontation has also escalated following recent violent incidents involving Syrians and Afghans. One of them was the murder of Filippo Tsani, of Greek origin, by an 18-year-old Syrian who had arrived in Germany in 2016.
However, the German Foreign Ministry expresses its reservations: “In all areas of Syria, military operations of varying intensity continue. There are also credible reports of sometimes serious human rights violations, including practices of torture and executions, which in the past have also affected returnees” and for this reason the United Nations still assesses that “the conditions for the safe return of refugees do not exist “, said a representative of the ministry.
“Chancellor Olaf Solz’s announcements about expulsions have no value so far. There must finally be an end to the government’s excuses,” Christian Social Union (CSU) head of parliament Alexander Dobrid told BILD.
