Biden: Putin a dictator – he has no idea what awaits him

by

“Vladimir Putin has no idea what awaits him,” he said in a speech to the US Congress. During his speech, the US head of state assured that Russian President Vladimir Putin, whom he described as a “dictator”, is “more isolated than ever.”

US President Joe Biden began his speech at the Federal Capitol on the “state of the union” by calling on members of Congress to stand up to show that “the United States stands with the Ukrainian people.”

Mr Biden has confirmed that Washington will close US airspace to “all Russian flights”.

He also noted that the US Department of Justice is setting up a special task force to prosecute Russian “oligarchs” for their crimes and that the US, together with its allies in Europe, will “find and seize your yachts, luxury apartments “your private jets,” he said, threateningly addressing a second person in the top echelons of the Russian business world.

The US president said his government aims to stifle Russia’s access to technological means, undermine its economic power and weaken its military in the coming years.

“Mr Putin can make a profit on the battlefield but he will pay dearly in the long run,” he said.

Referring to what he describes as a battle of “democracies” against “authoritarian regimes”, he said that “democracies were loyal to the date” but the struggle would “take time”.

The US president announced that the US could allocate another 30 million barrels of crude oil from its strategic reserves “if necessary” to stabilize the market after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“The United States has worked with 30 other countries to release 60 million barrels of oil from reserves around the world. “America will lead this effort by releasing (an additional) 30 million barrels” of its strategic reserves, “the head of state told members of Congress. He added that Washington is “ready to do more” if it deems it “necessary”.

Turning to the economy, Biden said bringing inflation under control is his top priority, and referring to the pandemic, he said he would soon send a request to Congress for additional funding for US businesses and households.
