The Russian troops occupied the southern city of Hersonissos, according to the BBC.
It is not clear what the exact situation is in Hersonissos, but local reports say that the russian army is on the streets.
The city’s mayor, Igor Kolykhayev, had told local radio that Russian forces had seized the city’s train station and port on Tuesday night, according to BBC Russian.
“The fighting is going on now and the occupation of our city is in progress,” he said.
He added that many people had lost their lives, including Ukrainian soldiers and civilians, and that government officials were now trying to make sure that people could leave or reach shelters.

Hersonissos, which has a population of almost 300,000, is located between Mykolaiv and New Kahovka.
Russia’s most powerful military operation to date has been in the south, where Crimean forces are targeting several Ukrainian cities, including Odessa and Mykolaiv.
Mykolaiv officials said the city was still in Ukrainian hands.
