Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan expressed regret over the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, who he said he “martyred”adding that it has become a symbol of the Palestinian resistance.

“He had dedicated his life to the Palestinian cause and bringing peace and tranquility to Palestine,” Fidan said on social media platform X, accompanying his post with a photo of himself and Haniya.

Earlier in a statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned the “stern” killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, the capital of Iran, saying the attack was aimed at spreading the war in Gaza to the regional level.

“It has been revealed once again that the Netanyahu government has no intention of achieving peace,” Turkey’s foreign ministry said in a statement.
