At least two people lost their lives and 17 are missing when a landslide occurred in a village in the southwest today Chinadue to which a road bridge collapsed, according to local authorities.

State broadcaster CCTV reported that “floods and landslides” swept away part of the village Reedyin the province Sichuanresulting in the death of two people, while the fate of 12 others is unknown.

In the same province, a road bridge that connected two tunnels between villages Kangding and Lunding collapsed after a landslide, the local government said in a statement on social media.

At least three vehicles carrying six passengers went off the highway. One person was “rescued and five others are missing”, according to the same source.

Two weeks ago, the collapse of another road bridge caused by torrential rains left at least 38 people dead while 24 remain missing, state media reported yesterday.
