“Terrified by the images from a school in Gaza hit by an Israeli strike, with dozens of Palestinian victims”, the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy says in a post on “X”, Joseph Borel, on the occasion of Israel’s new attack on a school in Gaza.

Mr Borrell points out that “at least 10 schools have been targeted in recent weeks”, stressing: “There is no justification for these massacres”.

Also, the head of European diplomacy says he is “disappointed” by the number of victims. “We are dismayed by the terrible overall death toll. Over 40,000 Palestinians have been killed since the beginning of the war,” he said.

However, Mr Borrell condemned the statements of Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who called it “just and moral to let two million Palestinians starve until our hostages are returned”.

“We regret and condemn Minister Smotrich’s position – against the interests of the Israeli people – for an agreement. A ceasefire is the only way to stop the killing of civilians and ensure the release of the hostages,” Mr Borrell stressed.
