An air accident involving two Rafales occurred at noon today in the eastern France and “search operations have begun for the pilots”, the aircraft, the authorities announced.
“A two-aircraft accident occurred at Mert-et-Moselle in the area Colombi-le-Bel“, the prefecture emphasized in a statement, saying that “the regional operations center was immediately activated and the SATER (air rescue) plan was implemented in support of military forces.”
According to information transmitted by french media, one pilot was found injured in the area. As he told rescuers, he managed to use the ejection system in his seat.

The rescue operation continues, as two more pilots are missing. According to information, the pilots wanted are an instructor and a cadet.

Eyewitnesses state that “there is debris everywhere”, while 33 firefighters and 11 vehicles have been mobilized to the scene. Drones have also been activated in the search for the two missing pilots.
