More than 33 million people watched President Joe Biden’s “State of the Union” talk on American television on Tuesday night, recording an increase in comparison with the corresponding speech of 2021 to Congressas reported by CNN, citing preliminary statistics (Nielsen).
This number includes viewership of nine English-language news and cable networks, and will increase if viewership from Spanish-language and other networks is added, according to CNN.
Nielsen was expected to release more details late last night.
Biden’s first official speech to Congress in April 2021 attracted approximately 26.9 million viewers through 16 US television networks.
In Tuesday’s speech, President Biden attacked Russian President Vladimir Putin on the invasion of Ukraine, while presenting in detail its internal agenda.
Biden’s audience was recorded below the total number of former President Donald Trump’s first official speech in Congress, in 2018, which had attracted the interest of 46 million viewers.
TV audiences for live events have dropped dramatically as viewers turn to streaming technology services that are in high demand.
