President Jair Bolsonaro embarked this Friday (12) on a trip that will pass through the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Qatar. The visit, which should go on until next Thursday (18), is aimed at attracting private investment to Brazil. This is Bolsonaro’s second visit to countries in the region. He has already been to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar in 2019.
“The visit is part of a foreign policy vector that attaches primary importance to the Arab and Gulf countries,” said the secretary for Bilateral Negotiations for the Middle East, Europe and Africa, Kenneth Félix da Nóbrega. He also stated that it will be a chance to dialogue with these nations about the post-pandemic.
Bolsonaro will make a stopover in Lisbon this Friday night and will travel from the Portuguese capital to Dubai, one of the seven emirates, where he should disembark on Saturday (13). Economy Minister Paulo Guedes is one of the authorities accompanying the president. The complete list of the delegation was not released by Itamaraty.
The following day, the Brazilian leader should visit the Embraer pavilion at the Dubai Air Show. Bolsonaro is also expected to meet Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed and visit a BRF plant.
On Monday (15), Bolsonaro participates in Dia do Brasil and the Brazil Investment Forum, at Expo Dubai. Afterwards, he should have an audience with the emir of Dubai and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The next day, the president lands in Manama, Bahrain.
The expectation is that he will be received by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and accompany the inauguration of the Brazilian embassy building. On Wednesday (17), Bolsonaro will travel to Doha, Qatar, where he will meet with Emir Tamin Bin. The president should also visit the Lusail stadium, the venue for the 2022 World Cup final, and participate in a meeting with FIFA representatives.
The trip ends on November 18, when Bolsonaro returns to Brazil. This Friday, the president decorated a series of authorities in the region, with honors from the National Order of Cruzeiro do Sul.
He bestowed the grand necklace of the order on the King of Bharen, the Emir of Dubai, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and the Emir of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan.
