Her ambassador of Russia in Washington said on Friday that he did not believe Ukraine would have attacked the gas pipelines Nord Stream without the tacit approval of the United States. He also stated that Russia will identify and punish those behind the attack.

On September 26, 2022, there was a sharp drop in pressure in pipelines under the Baltic Sea, while seismologists detected explosions, sparking a wave of speculation about who sabotaged the multibillion-dollar project carrying Russian gas to Germany.

No one has claimed responsibility for the explosions, which occurred off the Danish island of Bornholm and damaged three of the system’s four lines.

The Wall Street Journal reported yesterday that Ukraine’s top military commander has approved a 2022 attack on natural gas pipelines despite the US Central Intelligence Agency’s warning to Ukrainian President Zelensky not to carry out the attack.

“They are trying to shift all the responsibility to their Ukrainian puppets” said the Russian ambassador Anatoly Antonov in his statement on Nord Stream. “We will seek to identify the real perpetrators of the bombing and punish them.”

Russia has repeatedly said that the Nord Stream attack was carried out by the United States and Britain. Washington and London have denied the accusations.

The New York Times, Washington Post and Wall Street Journal all reported that Ukraine – which has repeatedly denied involvement – was behind the attack.

Zelensky’s adviser, Mykhailo Podoliak denied on Thursday that his country was involved and pointed the finger at Russia.

Antonov said there was no way Ukraine would attack Nord Stream without “a wink” from Washington.

“In fact, we are talking about the tacit legalization of terrorism, even when it comes to the territory of allies,” Antonov said.

The explosions occurred in the financial zones of Sweden and Denmark. Both countries said the explosions were deliberate, but have yet to publicly say who was responsible.
