Lavrov: Negotiations with Ukraine will continue – Nuclear war is not in the minds of Russians

by

The Russian Foreign Minister demanded a negotiation on equal terms with Ukraine, during a press conference he gave a while ago.

“Russia will sit down with Ukraine to negotiate, but only on one condition that they must be equal negotiating parties,” he said.

He noted that the two countries are going to continue the talks, since last week’s negotiations did not end anywhere.

He reiterated that the Ukrainian government is a neo-Nazi regime and says gangs are looting cities and towns, including Mariupol, adding that Ukrainians are “now trying to use civilians as human shields.” He stressed that Moscow will continue its military operation in Ukraine until the “end”.

However, he noted that there was no doubt that a solution to the crisis in Ukraine would be found.

In addition, he reiterated the threat of nuclear war, stressing, however, that it is in the minds of the West and not Russia.

Asked to reassure people that Russia would not develop nuclear weapons, as he had feared since Vladimir Putin decided to put the nuclear deterrent on alert, Mr Lavrov said: “We have a military doctrine that describes the perimeter. and the conditions for the application or development of nuclear weapons. “We have no escalation to de-escalate as the Western powers are trying to present it.”

He later criticized British Foreign Secretary Liz Tras and US President Joe Biden, saying that the idea of a nuclear war “is not in the minds of the Russians”.

Mr Lavrov said Mr Tras had “said she was prepared for a clash between Russia and NATO”.

Regarding Biden, he commented that when answering a question “was there an alternative to these sanctions?” “The only alternative is World War III and everyone has the feeling that it can only be a nuclear war.”

He clarified, however, that “I would like to point out that these are statements of Western policy, they repeat the nuclear war, this is not in the minds of the Russians.”

“We are not going to allow some challenges to weaken us, to throw us off balance, but if they start a real war against us, then they have to think carefully.”

“If there is a real war against us, then those who make such plans should think about it [και] in my opinion, such plans are being made “, he pointed out.

He compared the US to Hitler, noting that “the Americans are telling the Germans what is good for European energy security and they say they do not need this pipeline (Nordstream 2) and that security will be secured by supplies from the US, which “It is many times more expensive,” he stressed.

He added: “They are trying to impose their views on the future of Europe. Napoleon and Hitler aimed to have the whole of Europe under their control – now the Americans have Europe under their control. “And we see that this situation has really shown what role the EU plays in the global situation.”
