Woman accused of trying to abuse Elvis Presley’s ‘home museum’
A woman was arrested today in the United States for attempting to extort Graceland, Elvis Presley’s home, by forging his daughter’s signature in a “shameless scheme,” the Justice Department said.
Lisa Janine Findlay, 53, is expected to face charges including impersonation and could face up to 20 years in prison.
It is believed that he tried to acquire the estate of “The King”, located in Memphis, Tennessee, claiming that his daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, who died in January 2023, had borrowed $3.8 million from the company Naussany Investments, mortgaging Graceland.
With the alleged “loan” unpaid, Findlay auctioned off the house on behalf of Naussany Investments, but last May a judge blocked the process at the last minute following an appeal by her eldest daughter Lisa Marie and granddaughter of Elvis the actor Riley Keough.
The Department of Justice asserts that the suspect falsified several documents, signing herself as “Lisa Marie Presley” and that she was actually trying to reach an “amicable settlement” with the deceased’s family.
Elvis Presley’s home has been turned into a museum and a place of “pilgrimage” for countless devotees of the rock and roll legend. In this house the “King” was found dead, in August 1977, aged 42.
