The Russian management of the Ukrainian station claimed that a Ukrainian drone dropped explosives on the road, endangering the personnel using it
Safety at its nuclear power plant Zaporizhia is worsening after a drone strike hit a road on its perimeter earlier today, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) director-general Rafael Grossi said.
The Russian management of the Ukrainian station claimed that a Ukrainian drone dropped explosives on the road, endangering the personnel using it.
According to him IAEAthere were no casualties, nor damage to the equipment of the nuclear power plant, only on the road connecting the two main entrance gates to it.
“Once again we are seeing an escalation of nuclear safety and the risks facing the power plant. I remain very concerned and repeat my call for maximum restraint on all sides and for strict adherence to the five specific principles set out for the protection of the plant,” Grossi said.
According to the IAEA, the site of the attack was approximately 100 meters from the Dniprovska power linethe only remaining 750 kilovolt line that supplies power to the plant.
The IAEA team that visited the area today said the damage appears to have been caused by a drone equipped with an explosive charge.
