According to MailOnline, teenage drug dealers had earlier tried to sell marijuana to her children. In particular, Maria Ramos, 33, was visiting her mother, Blanca Velasco on August 7, in Oakland when known drug dealers approached two of her children and sold them cannabis.
Ramos and Velasco then decided to follow the blue Toyota to tell them to stop coming to her house, according to KTVU.

When the 33-year-old stopped next to their car, the shooting started. The mother, who had struggled with drug addiction in the past, was fatally shot by the assailants.
By the time the ambulance arrived it was too late, she was already dead. The grandmother of eight hit the gas and drove away to avoid the gunfire. At that moment, she later said she still thought her daughter was alive. As the 33-year-old’s mother said, only the three older children of the shooting victim know what has happened to their mother.
