Russian forces prevented a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group from infiltrating into Russian territory through the border in the western Bryansk region of of Russiaat a distance of about 240 kilometers from the area from which Ukrainian forces launched their incursion into the neighboring Russian region Kurska Russian official said today.

Russia announced yesterday, Wednesday, that its forces are advancing to the east Ukraine and that they have begun to push back Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region, although a senior commander warned that Ukrainian forces may be regrouping to launch another offensive.

According to the governor of Bryansk, Alexander Bogomaz, border guards of the Federal Security Service and units of the Russian army repelled an attack by a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group yesterday.

The Russian official clarified that the attempted infiltration into Russian territory took place in the Klimovo region, which borders Ukraine’s Chernihiv region. Bryansk Oblast is northwest of Kursk, where a Ukrainian invasion has been underway since early August.

Ukraine launched a cross-border offensive against the Kursk region on August 6 in an attempt to divert Russian troops from the rest of the front, although Russian forces have continued to advance into eastern Ukraine in recent days.

Russia’s Defense Ministry announced it shot down 28 unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) over Russian territory, including 13 in Volgograd Oblast, 7 in Rostov, 4 in Belgorod, 2 in Voronezh, and one each in Bryansk and Kursk.

A fire broke out today at a military facility in the southern Volgograd region, after a Ukrainian drone crashed into it, regional governor Andrey Bosarov announced in a post on the Telegram messaging application.

Russia’s Federal Aviation Administration Rosaviatsia announced that temporary restrictions were imposed today at Volgograd Airport, where planes are not allowed to land or take off.
