A Bulgarian military force has been approved to participate in the NATO-led peacekeeping operation in Kosovo, KFOR, the Ministry of Defense announced in Sofia.

The combat capabilities of this force were assessed by a committee of the Joint Forces Command and Land Forces during a tactical exercise held in the Koren training area of ​​the Haskovo region in southern Bulgaria.

The military force consists mainly of members of the 4th Artillery Regiment. It also includes members of the 101st Mountaineer Regiment and the 110th Ground Forces Logistics Regiment, as well as members from the Joint Forces Command’s Mobile Communications and Information System.

Major Milen Zlatev of the 4th Artillery Regiment is the commander of the National Support Element and deputy national commander of the military force. Captain Kaloyan Dimitrov of the 4th Artillery Regiment is the commander of the detachment, according to the ministry’s press release.
