On Tuesday, Trump told CNN he would be open to having Kennedy join his administration if elected
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. officially announced Friday that he is suspending his independent presidential campaign and supporting former President Donald Trump.
Kennedy, speaking of his decision in Arizona, said: “I no longer believe in my heart that I have a realistic path to electoral victory.”
He added: “I cannot in good conscience ask my staff and volunteers to continue working long hours, or ask my donors to continue giving (money), when I can’t tell them honestly that there really is a path to the White House.”
According to CBS, Kennedy said three issues encouraged him to leave the Democratic Party “and now, to support President Trump.” These issues are freedom of speech, the war in Ukraine and the “war against our children”.
He clarified anyway that he is not “ending” his campaignmerely suspends it, and that it will remain on the ballot in many states. He said voters in red and blue states could vote for him “without hurting or helping President Trump or Vice President Harris.”
On Tuesday, Trump told CNN that he would be open to having Kennedy join his administration if elected. Asked if he would consider putting him in government if Kennedy supported him and won, Trump replied: “I probably would.”
