Two journalists were injured and a third is missing after Russian forces struck a hotel in Kramatorsk in eastern Ukraine overnight, regional authorities said today.

The attack, which damaged the hotel and a neighboring building, took place “in the middle of the night,” according to Donetsk regional governor Vadim Filaskin on Telegram, noting that “two people have been injured and one is under the rubble.”

“All three victims are journalists, citizens of Ukraine, the US and Britain,” he added, without elaborating on who was injured and who is missing.

Police forces and rescuers are working at the scene. Debris is being removed and rescue operations are underway.

Kramatorsk, the last major Donbas city still under Ukrainian control, is about 20 kilometers west of the front line.

Since the invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces in February 2022, this city which had around 150,000 inhabitants before the war has been repeatedly attacked by Russian forces.

In April 2022, the Kramatorsk railway station was the target of a bombing, in which more than 60 people lost their lives.
