The Danish authorities issued a warning today for Mr risk of landslides along the coasts after heavy rains hit the area, where two children from Germany were found buried under the sand over the weekend.

The boys, aged 9 and 12, were digging in a dune on a beach in North Jutland (north) on Sunday when the dune collapsed and crushed them.

The two boys, who were on vacation with their families, remained trapped in the sand for 40 minutes, the time that the people on the beach were digging to free them, Danish media reports.

They were taken to the hospital in serious condition, it was announced yesterday by the local police.

In a separate incident, another boy was trapped yesterday after a sandslide in south-west Jutland, but was soon rescued and unhurt.

We are appealing for caution in dune zones following landslides on the west coast yesterday“, the emergency services of North Jutland wrote today in X.

Authorities are asking locals and tourists to stay on designated paths, watch children, not climb the steep hills and not dig holes in the dunes.

As they warn, in the south-western part of Jutland due to the recent heavy rains the dunes are now unstable.
