US: Republican senator urges Russians to assassinate Putin to end war

by

U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham on Thursday called on “someone in Russia” to assassinate Russian President Vladimir Putin and offer “a great service” to Russia and the rest of the world.

Graham, a Republican, first made the offer during an appearance on Sean Hannie’s Fox News show. He reiterated his comments in a series of Twitter posts, referring both to Brutus, who betrayed the Roman emperor Julius Caesar, and to the failed assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler in 1944 by German officer Klaus von Stauffenberg.

“Is there a Brutus in Russia? “Is there a more successful Colonel Stauffenberg in the Russian army?” He asked.

“The only way to end this is for someone in Russia to kill this guy. “He would do a great service to his country and to the world,” he added.

Graham, a close ally of former US President Donald Trump, on Friday filed a motion to convict the Russian president and Russian military leaders, accusing them of committing “war crimes” and “crimes against humanity”.
