A new case of possible sabotage comes to light today based on information from the German news agency dpa.

According to the latest figures, the Federal Office of the Constitution and the German Criminal Service are warning the competent authorities across Europe, airlines and freight forwarding and storage companies about hybrid attacks with incendiary devices, which are sent from unknown addresses and people in courier service companies with final recipients in various European countries.

German authorities have sounded the alarm after being hit by suspicious parcel shipments that exploded in transit. According to dpa and other German media, sources from within the German secret services allegedly link the new case to the increasing incidents of Russian sabotage on German soil.

Mobilization initially in Leipzig

German security authorities were first mobilized in July, after a first incident at a warehouse of transport giant DHL Aviation, which maintains its main logistics center at Leipzig/Halle Airport in the state of Saxony.

This particular warehouse acts as the company’s global hub for the transportation of goods. An alarm was raised there when a package with an unknown sender from the Baltic region carried an explosive device and caught fire during its transport, destroying the entire container in which it was packed.

The case in Leipzig is already being investigated by the Federal Prosecutor’s Office in Karlsruhe, while fears are being expressed of similar incidents in other countries. In the meantime, as reported by the n-tv network, DHL states that it has taken all the necessary security measures for its facilities, its employees, the network and the shipments of its customers. According to the company, another similar incident involving a suspicious package has been reported to the German authorities.
