According to FBI Director Christopher Wray, the young Pakistani was “determined to kill Jews here in the US, almost a year after the horrific attack by Hamas against Israel” on October 7, 2023.
According to the investigation by the FBI and the New York federal prosecutor’s office, Hahn, a resident of Canada, attempted to travel to New York where he “intended to commit automatic and semi-automatic weapons mass slaughter in support of IS against Jewish center in Brooklyn“, one of the five boroughs of the multicultural metropolis of the USA, the country where most Jews live in the world after Israel, about six million.
The suspect “he was arrested on Sept. 4 in Canada at the request of federal prosecutors” in Manhattan, according to the Justice Department statement.
The young man had been under surveillance since last November, in particular because of his messages on social networking sites, his encrypted communications and the “distribution of IS video and written propaganda”, according to the US Department of Justice.
Minister Garland said he was “deeply grateful to (his) Canadian partners for acting swiftly to bring the accused into custody”.
