21 people detained – Narin’s parents and older brother are among those arrested – Erdogan’s intervention
Hearts were broken in Turkey. The body of an 8-year-old girl, whose fate had been missing for 19 days, was found in Diyarbakır province, in the southeast of the country, as the Turkish Interior Minister announced on Sunday.
“Unfortunately, the inanimate body of Narin, who went missing in Tavsadepe village in Baglar district of Diyarbakir, was found by our gendarmerie teams,” Ali Gerlikaya told Platform X.
The body of little Narin Guran was found in a sack, placed in a river one kilometer from the village where she lived with her family, Diyarbakir governor Murat Zorluoglu told reporters.
“Narine Guran was found dead wearing the same clothes as when she was last seen. Initial reports are that she was put in a sack after killing hers. The sack was then placed in the river, hidden under branches and stones so as not to arouse suspicion,” he added.

As part of the investigation carried out by the Diyarbakır Prosecutor’s Office, 21 people were detained, announced the Minister of Justice Yilmaz Tundes.
Narine’s parents and elder brother are among those arrested, according to the Turkish news network NTV.
“The sad news about Narin, who was brutally murdered, deeply hurt us all,” reacted the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan by posting it on the X platform.

“I will personally monitor the judicial process to ensure that those who took Narine from us receive the harshest punishment they deserve,” he added.
The disappearance of the little girl on August 21 and the efforts of the search that remained fruitless caused anxiety and emotion in Turkey. Several well-known personalities joined a social media campaign titled “Find Narine”.
Narine’s uncle was arrested last week on “strong suspicions” of “murder” and “deprivation of liberty” against him.

Calls for protest rallies on Sunday night against Narin’s killing have been made by feminist organizations in several cities across Turkey. The pro-Kurdish Dem party has also called for a march tonight in Diyarbakir.
“Narine was murdered in an organized manner. Those responsible for this murder, which saddens us all, must be exposed and held accountable before an impartial and independent judicial system,” the party responded in a message on the X platform.
