More and more revelations are coming to the surface proving Russian government interference in the upcoming US election. As Microsoft reported yesterday, Tuesday in its findings, Russian interference is increasingly shifting to the presidential campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris.

The new effort, which includes the dissemination of fake videos defaming Harris and her campaign, shows the rapid shift of foreign adversaries to targeting her campaign since she replaced President Joe Biden.

Microsoft has identified and released evidence that two “Kremlin-aligned” groups in recent weeks have released videos, including one showing supporters of Kamala Harris attacking supporters of former President Donald Trump and another video featuring an actor impersonating Thanks to a virtual incident with wood. Each of these videos received millions of views, according to Microsoft, and one of the videos was published by a fake San Francisco news outlet in an attempt to give the video more credibility.

The groups also posted videos on social media platforms X and Telegram showing a fake New York billboard with fake Harris policies. Microsoft found that this video received more than 100,000 views on X in the first few hours after it was posted.

Microsoft’s findings were announced two weeks after the Justice Department took down more than 30 websites linked to Russian efforts to influence the US election.

But Russia is not the only one trying to influence the US elections. It also uncovered efforts by a China-linked group known as Storm-1852 to spread content on social media critical of both Harris and Biden. However, Microsoft found that many of the people who posted videos for the group stopped uploading new material after the content was detected.

Microsoft has warned that this kind of activity is likely to continue ahead of the November elections, particularly from Russia, with the company predicting that Moscow will use hacker groups to amplify its messages online, which could include propaganda generated by artificial intelligence.
