Russian forces opened fire this afternoon on a protest by residents of the Russian-occupied city of Nova Kakhkhovka in southern Ukraine, injuring five people, the Ukrainian news agency Interfax Ukraine reported, citing eyewitnesses.
About 2,000 people took to the streets of the city to protest against the invasion, waving Ukrainian flags and calling on Russian forces to leave, the agency said.

Similar protests by hundreds of protesters took place in other Ukrainian cities today, including Kalasanka, according to the same news agency.
Demonstrations with many thousands of participants also took place in the cities of Berdyansk and Melitopol last week.
