Ukraine’s refugee crisis and the open doors of the European Union; listen to podcast

The war in Ukraine caused one of the biggest waves of refugees in recent European history. More than 1 million Ukrainians have already left their homes for neighboring countries such as Poland, which has welcomed people fleeing the war with food and blankets.

Other EU countries have also promised to welcome refugees. The attitude of the bloc countries, which support Ukraine in the war started by Russian President Vladimir Putin, was praised – but critics noted the change in attitude towards refugees from other conflict zones, such as Syria and Afghanistan.
