Chavez, in a plea deal with prosecutors, formally pleaded guilty to charges related to the supply of ketamine to Perry
Mark Chavez, one of two doctors charged in the death of “Friends” star Matthew Perry, has pleaded guilty to supplying ketamine as part of a plea deal with authorities.
Chavez formally pleaded guilty to charges related to supplying ketamine to Perry, who died in October 2023 from “acute effects” of the anesthetic and subsequent suffocation, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s autopsy report .
Chavez made a formal plea deal with prosecutors during Wednesday’s hearing. The judge set his sentencing for April 2, 2025. Chavez faces up to ten years in prison, which is the maximum sentence recommended.
According to the indictment filed in August, Chavez is one of the five people who are blamed for Perry’s ketamine overdose. The actor was found dead in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home in October 2023.
Chavez, who had operated a ketamine clinic, sold ketamine lozenges to Dr. Salvador Placencia, 42, who then made them available to Perry. Palsencia, a Santa Monica-based physician known as “Dr. P,” pleaded not guilty.
