Rescue crews continue to search for survivors in the ruins
At least 7 people were killed and several others injured when an Israeli rocket hit the apartment building where they lived in Damascus last night.
Among the victims are women and children, according to the Syrian Ministry of Defense.
Footage from Syrian state media and X users showed parts of the building destroyed by the explosion, with debris scattered in the surrounding area.
Israel did not immediately comment on the strike, while Syria’s state-run Sana news agency, citing a military source, said three missiles were fired from the direction of the Golan Heights.
“The Israeli army launched an airstrike targeting a residential and commercial building in the densely populated Mazeh district, killing seven civilians,” according to the ministry’s statement.
According to Israeli sources however, the IDF struck a building near the Iranian embassy in Damascus, targeting Iranian officials and the commander of Hezbollah’s Unit 4400 and Iranian officials.
Rescue crews continue to search for survivors in the ruins.
For its part, the Iranian embassy in Lebanon denied that there were any Iranian citizens killed or injured in the Israeli strike in Damascus, claims however that have not been verified by independent sources.
