The strong storm, which yesterday developed into a dangerous one Hurricane Milton (Category 5)is expected to make landfall in Florida late tonight, according to the US National Hurricane Center.

NBC News predicts the hurricane will make landfall sometime between 2 a.m. (9 a.m. Athens time) and 6 a.m. (1 p.m. Athens time) tomorrow, near Sarasota.

Warning information reports for the storm cover almost its entirety west coast of Florida and a large part of the state, including the east coast. This is an area that is catching on the coastline between Tampa and Fort Myers.

From 5 am ET (12 p.m. Athens time), o Hurricane Milton it was 300 miles southwest of Tampa, with stables 160mph winds and moving northeast at 14mph.

The hurricane will cross Florida from west to east. In Orlando and the surrounding area, forecasters warned of up to 15 inches of rain and said the area faces a “risk of flash flooding due to extreme rain.”
