Independent MEPs agree to appoint their representative at the Conference of Presidents – New brewing is in full swing
By Yannis Anifantis
New fermentations are in full swing in its corridors parliamentafter the start of the Second Parliamentary Session, as the independent MPs agreed to appoint their representative to Conference of Presidentsthe MP from Pleussi Eleftherias, Michalis Khourdakis.
According to parliamentary sources, eight out of a total of fourteen independent MPs (Linou, Salmas, Hourdakis, Papaioannou, Dimitrokallis, Floros, Manousos, Valtogiannis) sent letters appointing Mr. Hourdakis as their representative. Based on the regulation, as long as there are at least 5 independent MPs, they have the right to appoint a representative to the Conference, a fact that was also confirmed with the appointment of Khourdakis.
However, this does not necessarily mean that there is scope for the creation of a new, 10th parliamentary group that will enjoy the privileges of the Regulation (offices, leader, parliamentary representatives, employees, etc.) as an agreement is required for the person who will chair such a group , while as noted by parliamentary circles, the ideological gap between the independents is large, also due to the different party origins. In any case, this move will give the right – to those who agreed – to better control the presence of all independents in parliamentary meetings.
It is noted that the 14 independents are: Marios Salmas, Lefteris Avgenakis, Athina Linou, Michalis Khourdakis, Areti Papaioannou, Pavlos Sarakis, Giorgos Manousos, Yiannis Dimitrokallis, Dionysis Valtogiannis, Giorgos Aspiotis, Michalis Gavgiotakis, Kostas s Floros and Baran Burhan.
From Mr. Avgenakis’ environment, however, it is clarified that he himself never came into contact with other independents, he is not interested in other alliances as he continues to function as an ND MP.
