“Don’t make Lebanon Gaza”… The US sent a stern message to Israel on Wednesday after Joe Biden’s communication with Benjamin Netanyahu.

“While the US supports the limited ground incursions currently being carried out by the IDF inside Lebanon, it does not want to expand deeper into Lebanon or change Israel’s presence indefinitely as has happened in the past,” State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said.

“We know the long history of Israelstarting with limited ground operations in Lebanon, turning into full-scale ground operations, turning into an occupation, which we’re very clear we’re opposed to,” Miller said during a briefing.

“We want to see them limit their operations to what we’ve seen to date … this refers to the amount of land they occupy in Lebanon, not the number of troops they deploy,” Miller explained.

“Ultimately, we want to get back to implementing it [Ψηφίσματος του Συμβουλίου Ασφαλείας του ΟΗΕ] 1701, which means the government of Israel will withdraw behind the border,” he said.

The US does not want to see Lebanon “convert in nothing resembling the situation in Gaza» the American official stated explicitly.

The US president’s 30-minute phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu was “candid” and “productive” and included discussions of a possible attack on Iran, White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre said.

A phone call earlier in the afternoon between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Joe Biden was held “in a positive atmosphere,” Israel’s Channel 12 News reported, citing an Israeli official.

US vice president and presidential candidate Kamala Harris participated in the US president’s communication with the Israeli prime minister.
