The strike targeted the UNIFIL headquarters in the Ras al-Naqoura region, according to Lebanon’s state-run SNA news agency.
“The headquarters of the United Nations peacekeeping force and its nearby positions in southern Lebanon have been hit repeatedly amid recent escalation along the Blue Line,” UNIFIL said in a statement today, adding that two peacekeepers were wounded by Israeli tank fire.
“This morning, two peacekeepers were injured when an IDF Merkava tank fired a missile at an observation tower at the UNIFIL headquarters in Naqoura, directly hitting it and causing them to fall. Fortunately, this time, the injuries are not serious, but the two blue-collar men remain in the hospital,” the announcement reads. .
Naqoura is a small town in southern Lebanon. Since March 23, 1978, it has been the headquarters of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.
Earlier, Hezbollah announced that it destroyed an Israeli tank that tried to advance through Ras al-Nakura on the western part of the Lebanon-Palestinian border.

UNIFIL said in a statement that it was “deeply concerned about the recent operations carried out by the Israel Defense Forces in the immediate vicinity of the site of Mission 6-52, southeast of Maroun al-Ras inside Lebanese territory,” considering the matter “extremely dangerous development”.
He added that “it is unacceptable to undermine the security of United Nations peacekeepers carrying out the tasks assigned to them by the Security Council.”
