A grenade blast in a busy market in Kabul killed one person and wounded 10 others, including women and children, according to Afghanistan’s interior ministry.
The explosion took place today, around 14:00 (local time), in an outdoor clothing market near the Pamir cinema in the center of the Afghan capital.
“The perpetrator was amputated, he lost one of his legs. He is receiving medical attention, remaining in custody while security services investigate the case,” Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Mateen Khani told Reuters news agency.
“11 injured people were taken to our hospital: a 3-year-old girl, a 4-year-old boy, a 16-year-old, two women and six men, one of whom is in a critical condition,” Stefano Gennaro Smirnoff, deputy director of the Emergency Hospital in Kabul. Later, it became known that one man succumbed to his injuries.
So far there has been no claim of responsibility for the grenade blast in Kabul.
