Pourzitidis on sport-fm.gr about PAOK-Plzen: “Pay attention to their forward and hit her in transition”

First, tell us what these years of your own maturity are like, both on a human level and on a football level, in the Czech Republic…

“As you say, I also felt that I matured a lot. That’s how I felt. I can say that it was difficult at first until I found my footing. It’s always a bit difficult at first, but I’ve been in the Czech Republic for four years now and I’m better than I would have been in Greece. There I felt they didn’t support young people and here they gave me more opportunities”.

How did this whole thing with Liberec come about and how did you settle there and stay for so many years now?

“I was left without a team in the summer of 2020, due to the coronavirus, because at that time we were automatically released from Platanias due to circumstances. They wanted in the team children who also speak the language and the fact that I also speak Czech by origin helped me, since the Czech Republic is my mother’s birthplace”.

You played with Viktoria Plzen this year, what an impression it left on you;

“We could have won for sure… I know it well as a team and its players, since I have been teammates with some of them. It’s not much of a… football team. It is very simple what they play and the truth is that they achieve what they want. In other words, they get the victory without having presented a good image on the field”.

What are the points that PAOK should pay attention to against Victoria and where they could “hit” them;

“Their strong point is in the high game, Vasulin is very good at that. This year he transferred to Victoria. And last year they had Hori who has gone to Slavia Prague.

Now, in terms of their weakness, I think it’s when they lose possession. They don’t have a proper defensive transition, someone can beat them on the counter attack. We were playing against a crowded defense and it was difficult for us to get into their area”.

What does Slovan Liberec need to look at and improve in order to succeed in the European competitions, especially now that there is also the Conference League? You managed to play just one match in the Europa League…

“Don’t remind me of that with the 5-0 we lost (laughs)! When we played Europa League, the team was more experienced and had players who with their age knew how to manage such games. But here, in recent years, they have been supporting the little ones and that’s why I came too. We don’t have that much experience for the situations we face, like holding the lead sometimes and not conceding a goal to get the result…”.

Personally, what are you waiting for, what are you thinking ahead of the summer that is free and where would you like the new season to find you?

“I feel ready to go to a different league and level up, take the next step after the Czech Republic. And last year there was a proposal to leave, but the team didn’t let me, they wanted me here. I was not wrong to stay, because I think I can help even more this year. My mind is on the games ahead and the good of my team, but I feel that I am now ready after the years I have spent here, to open a new chapter in the summer.”.
