Israel’s military said today it launched “targeted precision strikes” against Iran targeting missile manufacturing facilities, surface-to-air missile arrays and other air defense systems in several Iranian provinces in retaliation for Iran’s attack on Israeli soil on October 1.

The strikes were “completed and the mission accomplished,” the Israeli military said in a statement.

The warplanes “hit missile manufacturing facilities (…) that Iran has been firing against the State of Israel for a year. These missiles posed an immediate and imminent threat to the citizens of Israel,” he said.

At the same time, the Israeli armed forces indicated that they targeted “surface-to-air missile arrays and other anti-aircraft defense systems”.

“Iran launched hundreds of missiles against the State of Israel during two attacks in April and October, and finances and directs terrorist operations through its allies in the Middle East to harm Iran,” the Israeli military noted in its statement, adding that Iran is trying to “undermine regional stability and security as well as the global economy.”

In a separate statement, the Israeli military spokesman explained that these strikes give Israel “greater freedom of action” in Iranian airspace.

At the same time, Israel warned Iran that it would pay a “big price” in case of further escalation.

“If the Iranian regime makes the mistake of starting a new cycle of escalation, we will be forced to respond,” Vice Admiral Daniel Hagari assured.

“Our message is clear: everyone who threatens the state of Israel and tries to drag the region into a wider escalation will pay a heavy price,” he underlined.
