Local officials spoke in the early hours of this morning about Russian bombing raids on several Ukrainian cities.
Dmitry Zivitsky, the governor of the area where the city of Sumy (northeast) is located, spoke of Russian airstrikes.
Residential areas in the town of Ohtirka, further south, were also bombed, he said. There are reports that part of the gas transmission network was hit there.
Mykolaif Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevich said on Facebook that he had been reported to have fired several rockets into the north. “Either they are testing how strong our outposts are or they are preparing for an attack,” he said, referring to Russian forces.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces today assured that its forces are slowing down and stopping the Russian attack. According to a statement, Russian forces suffered heavy casualties and are bringing in reserves.
Russian troops continue to advance to encircle Kyiv and strengthen their positions in Mykolaif, with attacks reported in Kharkiv, Izium, Sumy and Ohtirka, always at the headquarters.
