Russia launched a nighttime drone strike against Kiev that lasted until late morning and left at least one person injured, city officials said today.

Debris from the downed drones fell in six districts of the city, injuring a police officer, damaging apartment buildings and starting fires, according to the city’s military commander, Serhiy Popko.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko had earlier stated that two people were injured.

“Another night. Another air raid alert. Another drone attack. The armed forces of the Russian Federation attacked Kiev again according to their old and familiar tactics,” Popko wrote on social media.

He said that all the drones aimed at the Ukrainian capital were shot down. He warned, however, that other drones currently located in the airspace outside Kyiv may turn again towards the city.

Reuters correspondents reported hearing explosions in and around the city during the air raid alert that lasted for more than five hours.

According to Russian news agencies, citing the country’s Defense Ministry, Russian forces captured two settlements in eastern Ukraine. It is about the settlements Kurahivka in Donetsk and It attracted people in Zhytomyr region. Reuters was unable to independently cross-reference these reports.

However, Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed 39 of the 71 drones launched during a Russian nighttime airstrike in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Air Force announced today.
